Man jailed after pleading guilty to two burglaries in the Square Mile, London
A city man who broke into two flats in the Square Mile and stole thousands of pounds worth of property was sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday 5th July to four and a half years imprisonment for two burglary offences.
Mark Tomas Goldsmith, aged 47 from Lewisham, was seen breaking into a property in Wormwood Street in the City. He took a number of items, including laptops, a camera and jewellery. As this investigation progressed, Goldsmith was found to be responsible for a second burglary at an address in Little Britain on the 28th May.
On both occasions Goldsmith forced his way into the properties and at each address he left a “trail of destruction caused by the havoc he wreaked” as stated by the Judge on Friday.
Goldsmith was arrested on 12th June after he was identified on CCTV and he pleaded guilty to both offences when he appeared at court on 25th June.
DS Mark Simmons of the City of London Police Burglary Squad said: “This sentencing provides reassurance to our residents in the Square Mile and will prevent Goldsmith from committing further burglaries in the City.”
